Races

In this game there are many races to choose from be it the usual like Humans (Imperial guard) Elves (Eldar) and Orks. But there are other races that arent usualy well known like the super humans of the imperium called the space marines, giants of men with crazy strength and iron will with the armour to match. Also the Necrons who's cold, silent marches of death spread accross the galaxy to reclaim it. In this article il try my best to go through every race in the Warhammer 40k universe for all of you to scan and maybe even start yourselves.

The Imperial Guard.

Imperial Guard

Though the single characters stats are rather weak compared to the poster child race, the space marines, they have the unique ability to field hundreds of infantry for very little cost. It is not hard to field over 200 troops on the field for a 1000 point game compared to the space marines you could field 4 conscripts for the price of one marine. The Imperial guard also excel with the most heavily armored tanks in the game like the leman-russ and the demolisher. They are by far the most versatile race out there being able to take many tanks and heavy weapons or go troop heavy with lots of meat shields to send at the enemy or a little of both. They are definitely the backbone of the Imperium even though they die by the millions each day. Still without them the Imperium would be nothing but a distant memory.

The Space Marines.

Space Marines

These fine warriors of genetic manipulation came straight form the Emperor himself. Being 8 feet tall and possessing strength beyond anything that the Imperium has they are a fine force in either hand to hand combat or ranged combat, having a wide range of special weapons and vehicles with heavy armor to block almost every weapon that the aliens can throw at them. The Space marines are an elite fighting force so they do not have a lot of models to choose from, but each one of them is a powerhouse in their own right. Each one is able to brush off the Imperiums' laser guns like nothing. They are the blade of the Imperium and they bring a quick end to all of the aliens that try to pass their borders.

The Eldar.

Eldar

This ancient race is also by far the most tragic. After having their entire civilization wiped out in an instant by the birth cries of a chaos god, they were almost forced into extinction. Luckily a few had survived. These lucky survivors were the the ones that were on the craft-worlds. Because of the Eldar's few numbers, they are forced to make due with their superior technology, and their large warships to survive.

The Eldar have weak armor and small amount of forces, but what they lack in strength they make up in technical ability. They possess technology so far ahead of the Imperium that the tech-loving Priests of Mars could only wish they could get a hold of some of it. The Eldar are known for being quick and decisive in their actions. They are very secretive and always working on a higher agenda, doing whatever it takes to bring their civilization back to the greatness that it once was.

The Orks.

Orks

These brute monsters are by far the most resilient beasts in Warhammer. They are able to come back from certain extinction as if they were brushing off the flu. They say that once the Orks appear on a planet, that planet is doomed from the start. Their strength in numbers is unmatched, able to take out a massive army of Imperials with little opposition. Sure, they die very easily when they're shot at, having only shirts as armor but there are so many of them that it is almost impossible to stop them all and once they get close to you, you can simply count the battle over. Their War-cry when charging into battle can scare even the most hardened veteran as a wave of fear washes over the battlefield.

The Chaos Space Marines.

Chaos Space Marines

These traitorous Space Marines did the most vile act ever recorded in history and have never been forgotten over the next ten thousand years after the act. They turned on their emperor and crippling him in the battle before going back to the warp. They use powerful dark magics and ancient technology alongside daemons and gods of immense power. These daemons are creatures from the warp that are so twisted that they look like they could only come from the imagination of a psychopath. Each time they attack they dig the knife deeper into the Imperium, having literally coordinated attacks on planets and systems before the Imperium even knows anything is wrong.

A Dark Eldar Warrior.

Dark Eldar

Even more twisted than the Space Marines, The Dark Eldar are probably the most vile of all the races, a scourge on the universe. They love the thought of torture, even torturing themselves for the pleasure of it. They live off of souls of the tortured and it is thought that the torture processes that they put their captured slaves through is merely to ripen the soul to give it a finer quality for consumption. The way they go about getting these slaves is by striking extremely fast into well populated areas from the warp. They have the tendency to wipe out all of the defenses of a base just to take the remainders as slaves, often collecting thousands per slave raid. The Dark Eldar then take them back to their dark city of Cammoragh, to undergo tortures beyond anyone's imagination. They often say it is better to die then be captured by the Dark Eldar, for they do not kill you they would enslave your very soul.

The Necrons.

Necrons

The Necrons are the oldest race in the entire universe, having been sleeping in stasis for over 60 million years. In the Warhammer universe they finally started to awaken again just to start the blood harvest once more. They are lead by the C'tan, who are the Star gods of the Necrons. The most well known is the Nightbringer, who is so terribly strong he is even revered in the civilizations of the Humans as death, or the grim reaper. He gave the Necronyre people immortality but for that he took their very souls. They are now only metal machines that coldly travel the universe, wiping out anything that gets in their way. Their unique technology is more advanced than even the Eldar technology. This is in spite of the Eldar's millions of years of development.

The Tyranids.

Tyranids

These beasts are also one the more resilient of the races, being able to evolve at a insane speed. They have come to this galaxy twice before, each time coming close to making the human race extinct. They've come from another galaxy entirely, and nobody knows how many places they wiped out before they came to the Warhammer Universe. The only thing most civilizations know is how powerful and destructive they are. Quite literally, once they land on a planet they start to feast, eating the life force of the planet itself, all in the effort of making more Tyranids. Then once they've consumed everything they move on, eating planet after planet. They adapt extremely fast to the environment of each planet, and are able to tear apart tanks. Some of their most monstrous creatures are called the Carnifex. The Tyranids are capable of sending waves upon waves of grunts to overwhelm their enemies. Even the Imperial Guard.
