Strategy:Solo'ing (Battlefield 2)

How to Solo

Solo'ing is a technique used by some Battlefield 2 players whilst in a two-seated attack helicopter. It involves rapidly switching to the gunner-seat (by pressing F2), right-clicking to get to the TV-guided missile-screen and then finally shooting a TV-guided missile. After this the player switches back to the pilot seat by pressing F1.

During the time the pilot-seat is empty the helicopter automatically starts to spin slowly. A hovering and spinning chopper is an easy target for other enemies, like another helicopter, a jet or anything else. Therefore a successful solo'er must learn to put the chopper into motion before switching to the gunner-seat. A strafing motion, for example, is sometimes enough to put the helicopter into an unpredictable motion, which will help you survive during the shot. More advanced techniques can involve rolling, doing loops or heavily pulling backwards.
