Spore is a simulation computer game designed by Will Wright that is currently in development by Maxis to be published by EA Games. It is currently hailed for its remarkable and innovative technology of game design, as well as the expansive range of sci-fi game play. At the basic level, Spore is an evolution game where the player creates and guides a creature from a molecular level to an interstellar race. This is achieved by first giving the player control over a lone creature (designed by the player him/herself) until the creature begins a tribe of his own, at which point a tribal real-time strategy aspect is incorporated into the game by war with other tribes. The player then begins molding and guiding his creature's society into a space-faring civilization, where the player and his creatures begin to colonize other planets and eventually control a galactic empire.

The lead innovative aspect of Spore is the procedural generation of content within the game, the sandox that the game is can be as large, varied, and detailed as it needs to be without the help of a large team of mappers, developers and designers. The users create and share the environment.

In the beginning of the game, a meteor is seen plummeting towards an uninhabited planet. The meteor crashes into the ocean and falls to the bottom. Upon impact, the meteor splits open to reveal a geode formation and a small organism crawls out. This begins the next phase of gameplay.

The game is still unreleased and has so far not brought up any significant controversies, there seems to be more of expectations that anything else.

Digital Rights Media

The developers of Spore originally planned to use an extensive security system to protect the game from piracy [2] , the users would have to authenticate their product every 10 days, after complaints and general opposition, the idea was given up for a simpler and accepted system from Securom.
