Sins of a Solar Empire/Sound Editing
From EncyClanPedia
Editing sound and music in Sins of a Solar Empire is easy, if you have the right tools. You'll notice that inside of the Sounds folder, that every single sound file is an .ogg - well, an .ogg is actually a very highly compressed form of the everyday MP3, which is why it is so popular in games. It saves on space, without compromising quality.
So obviously, the first thing you'll need is an MP3 to OGG converter.

Audacity and Directshow
Perhaps the best sound editing tool on the internet today. Best part about it is the fact that it's free, and it doesn't mess with your sound files to get you to buy something.
Another bonus to Audacity is that you can actually edit the music to suit your own needs, but this is a tutorial on how to add sound to Sins of a Solar Empire so I'm going to focus on that instead.
The second thing you'll need is the right DirectShow filter/codec to run the .ogg files. I use RadLight's Directshow Filter. This allows .ogg's to work in Windows Media Player, as well as Winamp or iTunes.
Download DirectShow Filter Here!
Step #1: Uploading the MP3 to Audacity
Begin by clicking on File and then Open - use the traditional browser to locate, and open your MP3 file.
Once it's completely uploaded, you'll notice a large bar appear on your screen.
Step #2: Converting the MP3 to OGG format
Click again on File but this time, click on Export as OGG Vorbis
This will quickly convert the file into .ogg format, leaving the .ogg version in the same folder as the original MP3 was found in.
Step #3: Backing up the original .ogg, and Renaming the .ogg
Click and Drag the .ogg over into Total Gaming\Sins of a Solar Empire\Sound.
Locate the music that you want to replace. (For example, the Opening Theme.ogg)
Create a new folder called "Backup" and then Click and Drag the Original into that Folder.
Finally rename the .ogg you want to replace it with, with the exact same name.
Congratulations. You're done!
