Grand Beginnings

And with this moment, everything changes.

Welcome to the EncyClanPedia, a Wiki dedicated to the world of Gaming and its community! You'll notice that as you come in, some pages are stark and unappealing, and some pages which should be popular are nothing more than a red link. In time, as this Wiki grows and matures, all that will change. This Wiki was started for the community, by the community, with one person suggesting an idea which had never been tried before. Now, we will accomplish what no one else has done before: provide the community a Total Gaming Community Resource. I encourage every clan to come here and write a page and file it under the proper category so they can attract worldwide attention to themselves. I encourage every player to come here and make a userpage and fill it with your gaming persona or whatever you would like. I encourage every person to find an article and add or edit it. Even if you only add two sentences to an article, or only clean up a paragraph, through everyone chipping in and adding their two sentences, we can build a repository of gaming knowledge to rival any site on the internet.

The concept behind the ECP is simple: the gamers know the games and the clans. Let them write the content and let them run the show. While this is not anarchy by any stretch of the imagination (and the Staff will always be watching for vandalism and other such inexcusable acts), we encourage everyone to try and resolve disputes among themselves before asking for Staff intervention. We wouldn't be doing this if we didn't think the community was capable of being mature and reasonable, and I'd certainly like to believe this is true.

The staff and other volunteers have given you the foundation and tools to build an empire. All you must do is construct it.

Good luck and happy editing! --Webs961 11:58, 3 December 2007 (PST)

Things contributors need to remember

I'd first like to thank everybody who has taken the time to contribute to the EncyClanPedia so far. Your help is greatly appreciated, and with it, we've managed to come far enough to the point where even my over-cautious nature is satiated. I think we're ready to be released to the Total Gaming Network public.

With that said. There are a couple issues. First off. Nobody is adding proper categories to the pages they're creating! Remember that if you're making a game page for a game on the Personal Computer, you need to properly add Category:PC Games to it! Make sure to click the Categories link on the side-bar and take some time to go through them all to see where your created pages will fit the best.

Finally. My greatest concern is that nobody is adding their clan to the Clans listings! Why is that? I know that there are a lot of people here who belong to a clan. Talk it over with your clan leaders, and give them access to this web-site so that they can add a page to promote their clan. Otherwise we'll never be able to choose a "Featured clan".

As a bonus, I'll make December's "Featured clan" the first clan who writes up a well thought out clan page.

A note from Webs

Hiya! So I think that all of the extensions that we could use are installed on the wiki (at least as of right now), but I'm still on the lookout. As for exactly what that means, it means that I'm not expecting any crazy PHP errors to come up any time soon.

On another note, I'm not exactly sure if this will be our final home. If it is to be, that will make life much simpler, but if it is not, I'll be migrating everything over to another database and server. I wouldn't expect that to take too terribly long, but you never know with that kind of stuff.

Good luck and happy editing! Webs961
