Linux
From EncyClanPedia
Linux is a Operating System of the UNIX family, released in 1994 by Linus Torvalds. Since then there has been a wide variety of versions, some completely freeware and other commercial products.
Originally Linux was not user-friendly, but required a great deal of technical knowledge from the user. Most interaction with the system was done through the command line.
Today Linux is available with full GUI and automated installation with Plug and Play, making it no more difficult to use than Windows
Even though modern Linux uses a Desktop like it is known from Windows it still offers very powerful command line tools, which together with regular expressions allows the advanced user to quickly manipulate data in ways that otherwise would require dedicate software.
Linux has a much longer history as a stable Server Operating System than Windows, which may also be quite costly in Server versions.
As a Gaming Client Linux is not particularly interesting, since almost no games are released that run on Linux. However many games that require a dedicated Server will release the software both in a Windows and a Linux version. An example is the Battlefield Series.
