Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the 5th game in Quake series of science fiction first-person shooter games. It is a successor to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory but it is set in the same world as Quake II, and acts as its prequel. Its gameplay is multiplayer based and is comparable to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has been released on Windows, Macintosh OS X and Linux formats and a console version is set to be released on both Playstation 3 and X-box 360 on May 29th, 2008.
Gameplay
Unlike many other First Person Shooter games of this time An integral part of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars's gameplay is objectives that require certain classes to perform certain actions opposed for a more Team Deathmatch style of play. There are four types of objectives to compete:
- Construct objectives that are completed by Engineers for the GDF and Constructors for the Strogg.
- Capture a objective that is only ever issued to the GDF army where a MCP that is dropped in by a Maggog sky crane has to be transported to a certain location to capture an outpost. Any class can complete this objective
- Destroy objectives that are performed by either a Solider or Aggressor.
- Hacking which is carried out by a Covert Ops for the GDF and the Infiltrator for the Stogg.
Maps in ETQW consist of a number of these different objectives, typically 3, to create a map. One team will be attacking and having to perform the tasks, the other will be defending and attempting to stop the attacking team from completing their objectives.
The defending team will have a time limit in which to stop the completion of all of the objectives this is typically twenty minutes but can be changed if necessary.

Setting
Classes
Global Defense Force
- Soldier - The life blood of the GDF. They have a large variety of weapons to choose from and excel in destroying vehicles and deployables, as they carry explosive charges. Their main weapon is an assault rifle and rocket launcher.
- Covert Ops - The spy of the GDF. They can disguise themselves as the enemy by stealing one of their uniforms and then stealthily kill unsuspecting enemies with a strong back-stab attack. As well as being able to 'hack' enemy deployables, rendering them useless for 60 seconds and taking 50% of its health if held long enough. Their main weapon is a sniper rifle, which they use to pick off enemies from long distances.
- Medic - The doctor of the GDF. These are essential in-game as they can heal friendly troops with health packs and revive fallen troops with shock paddles. Their main weapon is the powerful N80 Assault Rifle.
- Field Ops - The support class of the GDF. They can resupply friendly troops with ammunition packs, but more importantly they set-up artillery for air strikes. Their main weapon is the N80 Assault Rifle.
- Engineer - The defense class of the GDF. Engineers can construction vehicles, objectives and deployables and repair them if necessary. They can also fortify defensive turrets. Their main weapons are the N22 shotgun and many types of mine.
Strogg
- Aggressor - This class is much like the Soldier of the GDF. They're is best at destroying deployables and vehicles with explosive charges. Their main weapons are the Hyperblaster assault weapon and Obliterator Bosonic Orb weapon.
- Infiltrator - The main goal of this class is to cause large amounts of chaos and destruction in the GDF bases. They can possess fallen GDF troops and pose as them to infiltrate GDF bases. Their main weapon is the Railgun, which they can use for long-range sniping. They also carry an explosive flying drone, which they can use to spy and harass the enemy, though if it is destroyed early, the Infiltrator will take damage.
- Technician - These guys are used for maintaining the health and ammunition of the Strogg team. They give out Stroyent supplies, which include both health and ammunition. Their main weapon is the unmodified Lacerator, though they can also deploy forcefield emitters and create spawn points from fallen GDF troops.
- Oppressors - They are comparable to the GDF, Field Ops class and use artillery weapons such as the Plasma Mortar, Rail Howitzer, and the Orbital Laser to destroy the enemy. Their main weapon are rapid firing Lacerators.
- Constructor - They engineer of the Strogg. They construct and maintain objectives and weapon placements. Their main weapon is either a Nailgun or a modified Lacerator with a built-in grenade launcher. They also carry proximity mines and repair drones, which will repair damaged vehicles, then return to the Constructor.
