Created by German based game developers Crytek and published by EA, Crysis is first person shooter for the PC with a unqiue tradition of sandbox type single player game play. Crysis is the first outing of a announced trilogy but further details of other iterations have yet to been announced. It is argued to be the best looking game of the time, by both fans and industry observers alike.

Crysis is based in the not too distant future on a tropical island where an alien fossil has been discovered by archaeologists that have since the discovery been taken prisoner. The player's objective is to rescue said archaeologists and understand what the fossil really is.

Far Cry is Cryis's spiritual predecessor as it features similar environments, a similar sand box style and open ended method of completing the single player game. Whilst they share concepts they are based in two separate universes with a official successor to Far Cry already in development by Crytek.
