Featured Player

December's Choice: Team Dynamic's: Nick Burnes.

Because our featured game of the month of December is Battlefield 2, we figured it'd be fitting to pick a Battlefield 2 great as our very first ever featured player of the month.

As a long time gamer, and one of the more prominent members of the competitive gaming clan Team Dynamic, (alias) Nick Burnes is one of the most widely recognized players in Battlefield 2's Competitive Gaming History. While we do recognize that Battlefield 2's competitive spirit is long gone, the history behind it is not, so to that end, we salute the warriors who once made Battlefield 2 great.

Reporter: Hello Nick Burnes, I'm going to ask you a few questions. Feel free to answer them, or not. You're welcome to skip any questions if you don't like them.

Nick Burnes: Ok.

Reporter: Our first question is an obvious one. What is your first name?

Nick Burnes: Tim

Reporter: Alright then Tim. We already know that you belong to the prominent Team Dynamic. May I ask you as to how you first signed up with Team Dynamic?

Nick Burnes: My previous clan at the time was kind of a joke. So when it went the way of the dinosaur, I hit up Johnny5 and asked to join.

Reporter: Sounds good. So when did you first know that you were going to game professionally?

Nick Burnes: I game professionally? Nice! When do I get paid? I don't game for money or for prizes. Sure, receiving them is nice when you do get them, but I got into 'professional' gaming because I wanted a much higher caliber of game play. I wanted to play in matches and scrims, rather than just pub.

Reporter: Great answer. - So which First-person shooter started it all for you?

Nick Burnes: I've been playing First-person shooters for over ten years. It started all the way back with Wolfenstein 3D on my awesome 286 computer. Though, the game that really got me into hardcore gaming was Counter-Strike: Source.

Reporter: Whats the hardest part about belonging to a prestigious gaming clan like Team Dynamic?

Nick Burnes: (jokingly) Idling in IRC. Seriously Johnny, I don't want to idle in IRC anymore! (/jokingly)

Nick Burnes: Seriously though, I don't really think there is a downside. Overall I have a lot of fun.

Reporter: Sounds like a lot of fun. Alright then. Here comes a large question now.

Reporter: You stated before that your intentions weren't actually to game professionally; but instead to increase your level of game play. However, what would you suggest to players who for the moment, can only dream of attaining your level of gaming skill?

Nick Burnes: (jokingly)Heh, if anyone is dreaming of attaining my level of skill, I want to shake their hand, and possibly marry them.(/jokingly)

Nick Burnes: The best way to get better is to stop pubbing all the time, and start scrimming against the best teams available for whatever game you are currently playing. Also, map and general mechanics knowledge is a huge part of most games. Knowing all the nooks and crannies of every map will greatly improve your game play level.

Reporter: Extremely good answer. Now, the next question is a two parter.

Reporter: Now, those of us who already know who Team Dynamic is, already knew that you guys compete in Battlefield 2. However, does Team Dynamic compete in other games as well? More to the point, are there any games that you wish Team Dynamic would compete in more often?

Nick Burnes: Our Battlefield 2 days are all but over at this point. The competitive side of BF2 is dead worldwide. We currently compete in Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2. We will pretty much pick up any game that people are seriously interested in. In the future we are looking forward to Frontlines: Fuel of War to be our main game.

Reporter: Alright Tim. I'd first like to thank you for all of your time, and for answering all of my questions. I have one last one now, and I kind of like to think of it as an important one.

Reporter: Over the course of your history in competitive gaming. Is there one clan in the entire world that you were the happiest about defeating? Why?

Nick Burnes: Not really a certain clan so much, but we would always get called hackers and challenged to scrims while we were out pubbing. Rolling random pub clans 100-0 that thought we cheated always made for a fun time.
