February is a month of change for the EncyClanPedia and to reflect all of the changes we've gone through, we're bringing back the Featured Articles! The nominations were based upon how many hits that each Clan-Wiki received, and as a result all of the regulars to the EncyClanPedia Forums got a chance to vote on which Clan they felt deserved this honorary title. Well, Banzai won!

Banzai was founded in the year 2004, by their current leader CoZ and his many loyal officers such as PilgriM and MatriX. Banzai's roots can be found in the classic game Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and their former clan 1st-BW which had unfortunately split. Since then, Banzai has migrated over to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to continue it's competitive streak. They are especially active in the TDM 5 vs 5 scene, which is by far the most popular competitive game style to date for Call of Duty 4. Another thing that has caught my attention, and has appealed to me personally as a gamer is the fact that they shun camping, which certainly caters to a certain type of player; but none-the-less a very interesting aspect to this clan. This appeals to me mostly because I myself am not a fan of camping.

You can find more on this clan at the Banzai Website, or by visiting their Clan-Wiki which has a link in the header.

X-fire Interview with CoZ, the Leader of Banzai.

CoZ certainly had trouble at first answering the questions, but it seems that as he got more comfortable with the interview, his answers got longer and more in depth. He certainly had a lot to say about how well his clan did with Medal of Honor. I certainly look forward to the same kind of success for other games as well. Now, onto the Interview.

Reporter: How did Banzai first come together as a clan?

CoZ: Well Banzai was formed in Early 2004 from the demise of another well established clan a the time called 1st-BW. The core group of members have been together since 2002 in 1st-BW. It's been 6 years now and even after leaving 1st-BW, we are still together under the Banzai Umbrella.

Reporter: How did Banzai first get started in Competitive Gaming?

CoZ: Banzai's roots are based around Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, which was our core game for a number of years. We initially started to play for fun in some minor ladders before entering into Clanbase which is probably the largest competitive ladder in Europe. We actually managed to take the top spot in both the European And UK ladders

Reporter:What are some of the best aspects to being a leader of Banzai?

CoZ: I'm particularly proud of our history in competitive ladders. Not to mention our friendly attitude, our mixture of members from through out Europe and the UK, and the friendships that have been made

Reporter:What are some of the biggest disappointments that Banzai has shared as a clan?

CoZ: I think we were disappointed as a clan when MOH:AA became rife with cheating, which really culminated with us leaving competitive ladders, and ultimately the game. MOH:AA was what brought Banzai together initially so it was a disappointing time when we had to move on as a clan away from MOH:AA, especially at a time when other suitable games were thin on the ground.

Reporter:What do you believe sets you apart from other clans in terms of community?

CoZ: As mentioned previously we have a very diverse membership with members from all over Europe and the UK where language barriers have been broken down, and friendships were formed. We offer gamers the chance to participate in competitive game or just for fun depending, or just to pop onto TS for a laugh and chill out. No pressure is placed on anyone either way. We are also one of the few clans I know that OWN their own server hardware, bought by all the members, which i think shows the dedication and strength of the clan. As a side note, a lot of our European member's English has improved dramatically just from being on TS with other UK members. This is something I'm especially proud of, as it will help them away from the clan and in their daily lives.

Reporter:If you could give advice to anybody out there who is aspiring to join Banzai, what would you suggest to them?

CoZ: Well we are always open for like minded adult individuals who would like to join a successful and well established clan, we dont recruit on skill level, only on how you fit in with the clan, as previously mentioned we have such a diverse membership nationality and age wise, that there should be something for everyone. We only recruit adults, which means that no kids are allowed! This is so the banter can be of the mature variety. Not to mention, that it'll be welcoming and rewarding for our mature members. Ultimately If the above sounds good and what your looking for and your aged 18 - 50 and your on the lookout for a clan, then i would suggest you the join us button on our site!

Reporter:What does the future hold for Banzai?

CoZ: The future for Banzai is to keep on building up from the success we had with MOH:AA, and into Call Of Duty 4. We operate a couple of teams in different ladders, as we are a competitive clan, but clan matches are not the be all and end all for Banzai. I would like to think the clan will be here and as strong as ever in another 5 years time, probably with an even wider and more diverse membership which can only be good for the clan and its future.
