The M14 is the most powerful of the assault rifles in COD4. The downside of this is that the rifle is only semi-automatic and has a lot of recoil.

Interesting notes

If you attach the ACOG to the M14, you will get about a 75% reduction in recoil when hip-firing, and also recover a bit more quickly from recoil when aiming down the sights; ACOG is definitely the way to go for this gun.

It is also one of the few guns in this game that, coupled with Stopping Power, can kill with one headshot (within optimal range).
