Story

For the majority of the Single Player Campaign in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Price played as a non-playable leader of the 22nd S.A.S. Regiment. At the beginning of the game in the first few stages, he refers to Soap (the character in which you play the most in campaign), as that "Freaking New Guy". This is actually what the acronym of the very first stage F.N.G. stands for. He serves as a role-model for all of the people in his regiment, and carries with him a great deal of baggage from his past missions.

Fifteen years prior to the main campaign, Price merely held the rank of Lieutenant, and was under the command of Captain MacMillan. We realize this as we play through the flashback of his past, in the stages All Ghillied Up, and One Shot, One Kill, which are a pair of missions that took place in Chernobyl, Ukraine. At the end of these covert missions, we're led to believe that Lieutenant Price had assassinated Imran Zakhaev with an M82 .50-caliber Sniper Rifle. It isn't until the storyline progresses that we learn that Imran Zakhaev had indeed survived with a severed arm.

Possible Death?

It is widely believed that Price had died of his wounds at the end of the stage Game Over. This is based on the view that Soap has of the Russian Loyalist performing and failing his attempts to revive Price, who is no longer breathing. Sadly Soap "whites out" in the same way that Paul Jackson did before dying, so we don't get to see the full picture after Soap whites out.

There is some speculation that Price could have been revived later by a Defibrillator, given the many cases where people have been brought back from death anywhere from five to ten minutes after having stopped breathing. There is however no word on Price's condition after the end of the stage, and there is no word from Infinity Ward on Price's condition.

Call of Duty 2: Captain Price?

Amusingly enough, Infinity Ward decided to use a slightly updated version of Call of Duty 2's Captain Price Model, all the way down to the details of his Mustache, which is exactly the same as the one the Captain Price who leads the British Force's 7th Armored Division. Interestingly, that is why the mustache looks so weird on Captain Price in Call of Duty 4. It's merely an updated model.

It is unknown whether or not Price from Call of Duty 4 is related to the Captain Price in Call Of Duty 2.
