Gameplay

Battlefield Vietnam follows closely to the gameplay of Battlefield 1942. Both sides are given fixed number of 'tickets' in the start of a round, and in order to win one side must reduce the other's ticket count to 0 by killing enemies and capturing the majority of the control points. The game introduces helicopters and the ability of allowing players to use their firearms inside transport vehicles, which are seen in the later games of the Battlefield Series as well.

Classes

There are 4 classes available for both factions in each map: Assault, Engineer, Anti-tank, and Sharpshooter/Sniper. Each class has two available kits to choose, where one has different primary weapon or equipments from the other.

Early versions of the game has been criticized with the fact that one of the Anti-tank kits for the US side has both the M60 and the M72 LAW, making it more powerful than the North Vietnamese counterpart and the Assault class. This problem was later fixed in version 1.01 by replacing the M60 with the M14 in the LAW kit.
