Fast Attack Vehicles
The jeeps of 2142, these vehicles offer fast transportation for three man, but almost no protection and no shield. Instead of a shield the FAV comes equpped with a boost, that allows it reach very high speeds for a short time.
The FAV can even outrun Motion Mines, which makes it very usefully for breaking through choke points. a direct impact with a mine will still cause an explosion, so a popular tactic is to place a few EMP mines where the FAV usually pass, and then finish it of with AV weapons or Motion Mines.
Since the FAV driver has no weapons to aim, it is often advantageous to drive the FAV in third person view (default F10). That makes it much easier to navigate obstacles at high speed.
The crew and passengers are exposed with no armour protecting them, so a FAV holding still will quickly see its crew picked off by marksmen, after which the FAV will change owner.
Weapons
Machine Gun
The gunner of the FAV has an Anti Personnel machine gun in a 360 degree turret. This gun is quite useful against infantry but has absolutely no effect on armour and aircraft's. So don't fire at them, it only attracts unwanted attention.
Passenger Weapon
The FAV can carry a passenger in the back, which has full use of his weapons. That allows him do do repairs, fire at enemies or drop mines. Due to the hight speed of the FAV it can be difficult aim accurately with the hand held weapons.
A popular tactic is to use the FAV to boost past Tanks and then shoot them in the back with the engineers Anti Tank Rifle, the Pilum. This can even be done solo, since it is possible to change seats in all BF 2142 vehicles instantaneous.
