Assault Personnel Carriers

The APCs of 2142 are versatile vehicles that can act as transport, support and assault spearhead depending on the circumstances. Despite their boat like appearances they do not float. APCs are decently armored and carry a shield (default "x"). They have a small weak spot at the vents near the back, but this is nowhere as fatal as the weak spot on the tanks. They usually do well in urban maps and in teamwork with armour, but cannot fight armour and gunships on their own.

Weapons

Machine Gun

The driver has access to a turret machine gun which can rotate 360 degrees. It is not an impressive weapon, as it cannot harm aircraft and can only pierce FAV armor, but does provide some protection against infantry threats.

EMP Launcher

The driver also has command of an EMP launcher, mounted in the same turret as the MG. While this weapon does no damage it can paralyze enemy vehicles for a short period and also disrupting infantry's vision, giving the APC the chance to escape. The EMP really shines when there are teammates around with anti-vehicle capabilities, like engineers or tanks. In that case they will make short work of the enemy while he is disabled by the EMP.

Mortar Gun

The second seat of the APC controls another 360 degree turret, this one carrying a mortar gun. The mortar gun launches a salvo of three high explosive projectiles in a high trajectory which can be devastating again infantry, however their AV damage is insignificant.

Special Abilities

Launch Pods

The passengers of the APC (position 3 to 6) can launch in pods away from the APC (default alt-fire). Usually this will only be a short jump, but when in a range of a Titan a icon in the upper right corner of the HUD will indicate at the pods are now in assault mode and are cable of launching to the top of the Titan. A special case is the NS map assault on port Bavaria, where the launch ability is available for assaulting the Titan ports.

Aura increase

The aura of upgraded medic, support, and engineer abilities are boosted when riding in a APC.

Mobile Spawn point

The APC can act as a mobile spawnpoint, which is especially important when they are used to launch boarding parties against enemy Titans.
