Battlefield 2142From EncyClanPedia
StoryIce has covered the earth and now the two superpowers are competing for the lands in between. The Pan Asian Coalition (PAC) and European Union (EU) have taken fighting over the last parts of earth for their very survival. Features
ClassesBattlefield 2142 offers 4 predefined classes to select from. This is a significant reduction from the 7 classes of its predecessor, Battlefield 2, but due to the greater customizability the 4 classes can still fulfil the same roles as the 7 classes from BF2.
The assault kit is armed with an assault rifle. It also comes equipped with a medical hub, allowing him to heal him and his teammates with the hub in hand. Once the hub is dropped, anyone can be healed by it. One of the unlocks available is a defibrillator, which makes it possible to play this class as a traditional medic. Healing teammates will give teamwork points, but the ability to revive can be crucial in conquest games, where it can prevent ticket loss. His rifle rockets replace the grenade launcher from BF2.
Sniper and Recon has been combined into the Recon class in BF2142. Depending on the unlocks selected, the Recon user have access to tools suited for both roles, be it cloaking devices and plastic explosives, or enhanced scopes with stabilizer. It is the most effective class for taking down assets and Titan components since no other class carry demolition charges. However, the Recon class is also the only on which does not have a ability to support teammates with ammo, health , or repairs, which can be a setback point-wise.
The Engineer of BF2142 can be played both as Anti-Tank and as a traditional Engineer. Permanently equipped with a repair tool, the Engineer can gain points by repairing assets and manned friendly vehicles. He can also lay down unlockable anti-vehicle motion mines.Contrary to his predecessor from BF2, he also comes equipped with an anti-tank weapon. An anti-air launcher is availble to be unlocked, effectively changing this class from anti-tank to anti-air, though he can still lay mines and repair vehicles. The Engineer has a SMG as a sidearm, to compensate for the lack of a main anti-personnel weapon.
The Support class is the machine gunner of BF2142. In contrast to the other weapons in the game, his gun will become more accurate the longer it fires. This serves to simulate the effect of suppressive fire from a real machine-gun. The support class also carries a ammo hub which allow him to resupply himself and his teammates. This effectively means that a support user will never run out of ammunition. One of the unlocks available to this class is a shotgun, which can change the way the class is played. WeaponsEngineer

MapsBattlefield 2142 ships with 10 maps. Maps with a (T) are playable in Titan mode.
Northern Strike Maps3 maps are included with the booster pack Northern Strike Highway TampaHighway Tampa was included in patch 1.40, sponsored by Intel with advertisements and containers sporting the Intel logo placed throughout the map. Game TypesThere are 3 main types of gameplay in Battlefield 2142: Titan, Conquest, and Assault Lines. TitanIn the titan mode, both teams have hovering assault ships called titans. In order to win, your team must destroy the opposing team's titan. To destroy the opposing team's titan, your team must first disable the titan's shields, then destroy the hull. To disable the opposing team's shields your team must capture missile silos that are spread across the map. Capturing silos requires set amount of time to first neutralize it if the enemy is controlling it, and then retarget the missile to the enemy titan. More teammates will allow you to neutralize and capture a silo faster. After the enemy titan's shields are down, you must then destroy the enemy titan hull. This can be done in 2 ways, either by boarding the enemy titan and destroying the reactor consoles then the reactor core or by letting the ground missiles destroy the titan's hull. The round is won by the team that destroys the enemy team's titan first. ConquestIn the conquest game mode, teams fight for flags (also known as outposts or control points)that are placed around the map. Each team starts out with a predetermined amount of tickets. Each death costs one ticket. In Double Assault and Head-on maps, if your team controls less than half of the flags on the map your tickets will decrease depending on how many flags you have. In Assault maps, if one team holds all the capturableflags, then the other team's tickets will decrease. The round ends when time runs out or a team's tickets reaches zero. Assault LinesThe EU side will start with just there own uncaptureable base to begin with, while the PAC side will start with all of the other control points and a partially capable main base. Differently from Conquest, EU must capture all of the PAC control points before they can go on to capture the last base. This heightens the tension of the match and presents more of a challenge to the EU side as most of the time they can have the upper hand by attacking from any direction. Booster PacksNorthern StrikeDICE and EA released the Northern Strike Booster pack in early March. Continuing on with its persistent unlocking system, the Northern Strike Booster pack includes 10 new unlocks, 3 new maps and 2 vehicles. The booster pack also introduced the new game mode known as Assault Lines. The booster pack was available only through EA Link, for a price of $10.00. VehiclesThe expansion adds two new vehicles (IFVs, or Infantry Fighting Vehicles): the Hachimoto IFV for the PAC, and the Goliath IFV, a heavily armored urban warfare vehicle, for the EU. Type 36 HachimotoThe Hachimoto, a hover vehicle, is very fast and nimble, the exact opposite to that of the Goliath. Its frictionless system helps attaining the high speeds, but also poses a challenge, controlling it. The driver of the FAV controls a dual-auto-cannon similar to that of the PAC Walker, but is far weaker and is less accurate. The gunner mounts on an automatic grenade launcher which is very effective against infantry, but is restricted to 180 degrees field of view in the direction of travel. The secondary weapon of the gunner is the TVGM, similar to that on the gunship, used primarily against other vehicles, the TVGM is also used against the Goliath's shield panels. The Hachimoto TVGM is considerably slower than the gunship variant, and has a significantly smaller range.Though it may seem the infantry inside a Hachimoto cannot be hit, the gunner and the driver are considerably exposed, the driver has protection from the front and rear, but none on the sides, the gunner on the other hand is fully exposed, apart from the lower front body. A3 Goliath IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle)The Goliath is similar in size and shape to an APC, but has significantly stronger armor that continuously regenerates. The armor’s regeneration is generated by seven repair cells which are located on the top frontal area, back and both sides of the Goliath, with 1 located on the top frontal area and 2 on each of the remaining areas. The cells are black with blue highlights and glow electric blue while making repairs, otherwise they lie dormant. These cells are easily destroyed, requiring only a single direct hit from most anti-vehicle munitions (you are awarded 'Points for Destroying a Strategic Point or Object' for each one you destroy). As each repair cell is destroyed (and can not be repaired once damaged or destroyed), the Goliath's ability to regenerate armor is diminished, making the vehicle progressively easier to destroy. The Goliath's frontal armor is exceptionally strong even among vehicles and can withstand a large number of anti-vehicle motion mines and sustain fairly minimal damage (which is then quickly repaired by the repair cells). This allows it to clear minefields for other vehicles behind it. The forward armor is of course also much more resistant to rocket and anti-vehicle turret fire than the rest of its body. This armor is balanced by the vulnerability of the repair cells to motion mines which have high damage and a large blast radius which enables a single well placed mine hit to destroy one or more consoles and deal significant damage if it strikes the side or rear of the vehicle. The repair cells also stick out from the side of the vehicle which allows them to be targeted even if the Goliath is facing directly at it's attacker. In the teaser trailer, the Goliath is shown completely unscathed from an Electromagnetic pulse (EMP) strike, orbital strike, a number of blows from infantry missile launchers, and even a head-on collision with a FAV. The Goliath operates similarly to an APC with respect to passengers, both vehicles have a weapon for each passenger however the Goliath does not have drop pods and has fewer seats. Also the Goliath has only four turrets with the front 2 being projectile cannons whose rounds explode on impact and easily kill infantry but have a limited ammo supply, and the rear turrets are machine guns that have an unlimited ammo supply but are less effective against infantry, neither of these weapons is effective against heavily armored vehicles, such as the walker or tank, and both overheat when fired continuously for any great length of time. Each turret also have a 360 degree field of fire unlike the turrets in the APC which have a restricted field of fire. The Goliath driver's weapons consist of a shotgun-like scatter-cannon with limited effectiveness at long ranges and a launcher for a motion mine like ballistic projectile that explodes when a vehicle comes too close, or on direct impact with an enemy vehicle while still in the air. The Goliath is only available in Assault Lines mode on Northern Strike maps and only to the EU forces at one spawn point.Strategies, Guides and FAQMain article Battlefield 2142 Strategies Server Maintenance WindowsMain article Battlefield server maintenance times PatchesThe current patch of Battlefield 2142 is 1.4. It can be downloaded from EA´s main Battlefield site: http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2142/1.40/BF2142_Update_1.40.exe If needed, it is possible to have different versions of Battlefield 2142 installed simultaneously. See Having different versions of Battlefield coexist.
When installing BF2142 and the Northern Strike booster from scratch, it is actually necessary to patch twice. This is because Northern Strike requires at least version 1.25 before it will install.
However it is not necessary to obtain patch 1.25 since the latest patch will work just as well.
