Battlefield 2 is a computer game where players fight against each other on a modern battlefield using modern weaponry. Battlefield 2 is one of the first, first-person shooter games to include a statistic system, giving it a unique flavour that helps it to stand out in an already over-crowded FPS market. It features a single-player mode with three difficulty levels, however the bulk of the game can be found within it's multiplayer mode that is playable via the Internet or a LAN. Without the use of mods, Battlefield 2's single-player mode allows you to play 15 computer controlled players, and only the 16 player versions of each map available. Online play allows for up to 64 players as well as 32 player, and 64 player maps in addition to the 16 player maps offered to you in single player mode.
Battlefield 2 was developed by Digital Illusions CE (DICE).

Gameplay
There are two different types of gameplay in Battlefield 2. The first of these is known as Conquest. The objective of Conquest is to capture control points on the map and reduce your enemies tickets to zero. The opposing team's tickets decrease if you have captured control points or if you simply kill one of their players. It should be noted that Conquest is the only online game mode available in Ranked Servers. Cooperative gameplay, known as “co-op”, is the same as conquest mode except that players also play with and against computer controlled players known as “bots”. This game mode is not part of the ranking system.
Soldier Classes
As with past games in the Battlefield series, players are able to choose between a wide variety of classes each time they spawn. This becomes very useful as the battle around them can be forever changing. Each of these classes come with weapons specifically for their role. An example would be the Anti-Tank role carrying missiles, or the Medic class running around with shock paddles. Aside from choosing your class at the beginning of the match, players can also pick up kits from dead soldiers by hitting the "kit" key. Players are able to choose between seven classes, they are: Anti - Tank, Assault, Medic, Engineer, Sniper, Spec.Ops, and Support.
Maps
Battlefield 2 offers 14 maps for the players to play excluding the expansions and boosters. Including these the count reaches an impressive 28. These maps are diverse, ranging from swamps such as Songhua Stalemate, to urban areas such as Strike at Karkand, to an unfinished dam known as Kubra Dam. The USMC is avaible in all maps and faces against either the MEC or the PLA depending on the map. PLA is present in Far East maps such as Dragon Valley and Daqing Oilfields. MEC is present in Middle East maps such as Gulf of Oman and Strike at Karkand.
