The Unknown Soldier
In Arlington National Cemetery, in front of the Memorial Amphitheater, Stands a guard, pacing past the white marble Slabs that flush the plaza. The Lonely Soldier Knows what he is protecting. He knows that a Nation which forgets its defenders will most certainly be itself forgotten. He is protecting the land of the Free because of those Brave soldiers.
The Soldier Knows that remembering their Sacrifice, is never too much to ask. For the rest of that day that Soldier, That Guard of the past stood, saluting those brave men, in a death watch as thousands of people braved the dreary weather to pay their emotional respects. Through Snow, and Sleet he would stand, hell if standing there meant the freedom of his country he would stand there through a Tornado. It is considered one of the highest honors to serve as a sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The sentinels do not wear rank insignia on their uniforms so that they do not outrank the Unknowns, whatever their rank may have been.
Our History
-Established 2004-
Unknown Soldiers is a Dedicated Clan Competing in BF2 TWL, COD4, CAL, as well as in the solar systems of EVE. =US= is a Fun and always exciting Unit to serve in. In the Clan Teamwork, Loyalty, and Realism become Paramount, allowing us to become supremely proficient on the battle field. However, Having fun and spending time with clan mates, almost always takes first place.
In June 2004, The Founding fathers of =US=, were drawn together by the similarities in values involving the Unknown Tomb. From that Day forth, the newly created clan =US= was dedicated to all members of the Armed Services for the sacrifices they have made to keep us safe and free. From the beginning =US= looked promising, Beginning with 4 branches of the military, Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. The Clan Grew quickly over the years bringing in names, Who are still around today.
Commanding Officers came and past, and with them new ideas on how to run the clan, as well as new additions to the branches, However the Primary Values and ideas stayed the same. Even after several problems =US= stayed strong growing, to what it is today. On September 22nd, 2006 Major General Kimo took command of the =Unknown Soldiers= Clan, Succeeding Colonel Tanner. During Kimo's Command, Several Changes Took Place, Including the conversion to Brigades, Soon after the change the clan removed one Brigade and distributed its troops to the other brigades bulking up the platoons. For a year and a half, Kimo Commanded the Clan, making subtle changes for the good of the clan, during this time a surge in new members was accompanied by our very own map, for training. This era also saw the rise and fall of several BF2 TWL teams, including SOCOM, Rangers, and Force Recon.
On January 25th 2008, Former Executive Officer Major Kraor, replaced Kimo with is formal Retirement, being promoted to Brigadier General Kraor took full command of =US=. Officially making his first Order in front of the entire clan re-designing the Brigade System into Companies making the unit more realistic, with the amount of men in a platoon. Now Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta Company’s are the outcome. Alpha and Bravo co-exist as our Battlefield 2 Company’s, while Charlie is our sole COD4 Company. Delta is our special European Company, completely devoted to our friends from the north east. With this change, came a revamping of our Discom Divisions, as well as opening 75th Rangers for BF2 TWL competition, and Delta Force for COD4, Both highly competitive and Highly Trained units. Days before =US= Training Department, released their latest version of the Training map, Dubbed =US= Operational Training. Designed Specifically for =US='s needs, what ever they need be.
=Competition Teams
-Train to Fight-
=US=, has a long and Interesting History of Competition teams. Within the Joint Forces Command Division, are the Competition Sector, Consisting of Three Teams, Special Boat Service, 75th Rangers, and Delta Force. SBS, is the longest lasting Team in =US=, The EURO team has been together for Two and a Half years; all the men still the same. 75th has just recently been reactivated for duty, the team is currently training for the upcoming months to prepare for the TWL Circuit. Delta is also recently activated and will be competing in COD4 CAL.
Special Boat Service
The Special Boat Service has been in this clan for over two and a half years. It is the oldest standing Special Operations unit still running in this clan, also the first one to last more then 2 weeks. The unit started off with three members and eventually progressed into an even stronger fighting force. The team has competed in BF2, BF2142, and we are proud to boast that they have yet to be defeated, on any circuit. Causing the BF2142 TWL ladder to shut down, as a team, they are always training, by doing so; they make themselves experts in their field of operations. Being based on the Royal Marine Commandos, the real SBS. The SBS are the UK's primary quick reactions force, meaning that the SBS are leading from the front. 2Dyesamuri is one of the founding fathers of the SBS and takes great pride in his Euro Unit.
75th Rangers
The 75th Rangers are just beginning again after a small burp in their Operations that put them out of the race for quite sometime, however they are coming back stronger than ever. If you think you have what it takes to be a Ranger, and compete with the best players in the world for BF2.
Delta Force
Delta is =US='s most hardcore, and dedicated Special Forces unit. Delta Force, once fully up, will be competing involved highly competitive leagues and Tournaments. Delta will compete in CAL, among many other Call of Duty 4 Leagues. Delta is different than the others as you need to acquire several awards, and some ranks to be even considered.
DISCOM
-Slave Away-
=US='s Division Support Command, is broken down into 4 Departments. Training, Communications, Recruiting and Engineering, all of these sections are vital to the smooth running of =US=. The different departments have very different roles. All of which co-exist together.
Training Department
The Training department is broken down further into smaller sections. The first section regards the Training of Troops. =US= takes the introduction of recruits and their training very seriously. The first section is know as Boot camp, Run by the Senior DI. Who introduces the recruits to the clan and teaches them well, the basics. To help the Recruits along the Way, the Recruiting department has initiated the Mentor Program. This Program is used to introduce the recruits and guide them to their objective, of becoming a full member. The Final Section of Training is the Training of full members. This gives members the ability to wear badges for their achievements. For example you may receive the master jump badge, in which you are fully qualified and proficient at the skill of Halo jumping and inserting a team through the air. Another class is the fixed wing training class.
Communications Department
The Communications Department is based on the simple principle of communication with other Clans regarding Friendly Scrims, and Allied Communications. They are also responsible for all Administrative responsibilities within the clan. Regarding coordination of weekly Clan Meetings, as well as setting up and recording all scrims and Inter-Clan battles.
Recruiting Department
=US='s Recruiting Department is dedicated to bringing in new members, and always helping the community, co-existing with Communications and Training. They are responsible for all Paperwork regarding recruits. Upon acceptance of an application all recruits will be placed on probation. During a member's probationary period, their rank will be Recruit. The probationary period usually will last 2 weeks, in this time they will be tasked with Completing a Recruits Test, as well as attending one Clan Practice, or function. Finally they will need to attend one Boot camp, run every week, twice a week. You will then become a Private and placed into a Company based on your primary game. Activity consists of hours spent gaming, on Team speak and also post within the forums. The faster you apply yourself the faster you progress through the ranks and gain more responsibility and trust.
Engineering Department
Engineering is Given the Task of keeping Our Forums up and running without glitches, as well as keeping members ranks, and awards up to date, they are also given the task as contractors for creating Personal Signatures for our members. This section of Discom is vitally important, because with out these hardworking men and women, our site and forums would be way behind, and the clan would be in dismay.
Awards, Badges and Rank
The =US= Provides many Benefits to joining, These are just a few of the Awards, Badges and Ranks we give out.
Awards
Distinguished Service Cross
This is the ultimate example of a =US= representing the =US=. The epitome of the true member in every way. His loyalty to the orders at hand, good conduct in all situations, commendation towards leadership at all time, and his loyalty to =US= is unwavering. The qualifications should also be met with longevity in the clan of over three months. Lastly, this award can only be issued by the Commanding Officer of the clan.
Defense Distinguished Service Medal
A =US= member that maintains a flag/checkpoint for an entire game. This flag/checkpoint is the sole reason the match was victorious. Their unwavering defense of the flag may leave no question, as to it's strategic significance in the reason the match was won.
Purple Heart
Awarded to a member who is current or former military and achieved the rank of E-5 (in clan or real life). This award recognizes the sacrifices our members have made by serving in the Armed Forces and to show honor to the true "Unknown Soldiers". Special authorization may be granted by the JCS for service to the community, other than the military.
=US= Good Conduct Medal
Awarded to any =US= member, that shows great leadership upon the field of battle. His role as a leader can be during a match or practice, but must be vital to the better growth of his men in the field.
Badges
Master Parachutist Badge
The Master "Jump" Badge as its affectionately called allows our members to officially use and command H.A.L.O, H.A.H.O, as well as any in flight insertion or extraction. H.A.L.O is short for High Altitude Low Opening insertions, It is used when keeping a low profile is key, this is especially important in TWL and CAL competitions when keeping it low is the best way. The Jump Badge also includes Advanced Chalk Team certification, giving the wearer the ability to command a chalk team into combat.
Special Forces Certification Badge
The Special Forces Certification badge, is given to our troops that participate in our TWL and CAL teams. It is awarded to all members who have officially completed all special forces training regarding the team that they wish to join. Once this is completed and their tests are in. They then can wear the Badge with pride, showing it to all, this badge is hard to come by within =US= as of late, as only a select few are given the privilege to wear it.
Ranks
In Unknown Soldiers, we believe in one simple principle. That the person that works hard and does as their asked should be rewarded. Not only do we reward that member with awards, and badges, but we allow people to take on more responsibility and command troops. Running by the book, we use the US army's Rank system. The harder you work the faster you get promoted. With the new change in structure there is lots of room for command positions.
Primary Values
We also believe that respect, to any member regardless of the rank is vitally important. However and emphasis should be shown when talking to an Officer. The Rank system leaves endless possibilities for the new and eager soldier looking for a good clan. Unlike other clans where the member suddenly changes rank. =US= has established a long lasting tradition. Every second week the majority of the clan gathers on our Team Speak server and announces our latest news, as well as awards and promotions received during the last two weeks. The following week every member that can attend, joins up onto our private server and have a clan wide scrim. He members have the choice of either playing Battlefield or Call of Duty. For the Youngesters out there looking for a clan =US= is a Strong Support of COPPA The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, please refrain from applying until you are 13, it keeps us all safe.
Command Staff
The =US= uses a unique command structure to remove blame on the lower ranking members and help communication to flow easier. It is known as the Chain of Command. The CoC, is the line of authority and responsibility along which orders are passed within a military unit and between different units. Orders are transmitted down the chain of command, from a higher-ranked soldier, such as a commissioned officer, to lower-ranked personnel who either carry out the order personally or transmit it down the chain as appropriate, until it is received by those expected to carry it out..
The concept of chain of command also implies that higher rank alone does not entitle a higher-ranking service member to give commands to anyone of lower rank. For example, an officer of unit "A" does not directly command lower-ranking members of unit "B", and is generally expected to approach an officer of unit "B" if he requires action by members of that unit. Our JCS, or Joint Chief of Staff are the top of the chain, they make joint decisions by voting anonymously on issues related to the clan and its members.
The Tomb
The tomb meant more than just a Monument of war. It remembers the past men who protected freedom, when an evil force tried to prevail. The Tomb is the meaning of the saying "Lest we forget." It is the Vital Importance that we have the freedom of speech, and the right to do as we wish, when we wish. The Moment we forget that is the moment Democracy dies. Our Clan is dedicated to saluting and respecing the soldiers who protect us, Any of our members would be glad to answer your questions regarding the =US= Gaming Community. However for the best chance on getting the information you need regarding recruitment, challenges, or anything covered in the above please contact us on our Fourms. Salute the Past...
